A RUBERY councillor has this week welcomed thousands of pounds worth of work that is currently being carried out on an 'unsafe' pavement in the village.
Cllr Peter McDonald was delighted that the £40,000 had been allocated by Worcestershire County Council in order for the work to be carried out on Beverly Road.
Untidy grass verges and uneven pavements are being replaced by tarmac and even new kerbs are being put in to improve the area.
Cllr McDonald claims that before the work began, the pavement was a hazard to members of the public because of the uneven surfaces.
"It really was dangerous before, especially for children and the elderly using the pavement."
Cllr McDonald added: "I am delighted that the new pavement and kerbs are being put in, not only will it make it a lot safer for the residents of Rubery but it will also look a lot better.
Worcestershire County Council's highway partnership is set to complete the work early on in the New Year.
