DEAR EDITOR - I do not agree with the suggestion to extend Bromsgrove's car parking charges to 9pm, and include Sundays.

We already pay a higher fee than most other areas with very little recompense. There is no security, and if we spend a little longer in the shops than intended, we are greeted on our return with a fixed penalty ticket.

This is no way to entice local people or visitors to the town. Once again shopkeepers' trade will suffer.

I use the Dolphin Centre on a regular basis but I am not prepared to pay to use facilities and to park my car, their own car park is usually full at night and on Sundays.

If charges must be increased, extra security lighting and 'pay on foot' charging on return to car with a barrier system should be implemented.

The council should be attracting people to the town, not making money out of them with high car park charges and fines.

Mrs Elaine Swan,
