ROVERS returned to winning ways in front of a low crowd at the Victoria Ground last Wednesday night.
Bromsgrove Rovers (2) 3
Quorn (0) 1
Midland Football Alliance
With Steve Taylor back in a green and white shirt, the home team took an early lead on five minutes.
A left wing cross from Kevin Banner hit visiting centre half Michael Smith on the back and appeared to drop harmlessly to the floor.
Keeper Dave Sharpe went to collect the ball which span backwards and accelerated into the net for one of the most bizarre goals ever seen at the Victoria Ground.
Rovers extended their lead four minutes later. Quorn failed to clear a loose ball and Taylor lashed home a fierce volley from 20 yards which gave Sharpe no chance.
The visitors began to get into the game after their early setbacks. Bromsgrove chased around but did not create any further real chances in the half.
Their best effort was Les Palmer's long range shot which dipped over the bar.
Matt Lowe was rarely troubled in the Bromsgrove goal with the visitors' best effort a Craig Noble shot that Lowe pushed around the post for a corner.
The second half saw the Greens play some excellent football and their endeavours were rewarded on 67 minutes. Marvin Blake capped a fine performance with a powerfully struck goal from 12 yards after Palmer's good work.
Sharpe was tested on numerous occasions by Palmer, Blake, Grant Beckett and Banner but despite not looking at all confident in the slippery conditions he somehow managed to prevent further goals going in.
Quorn scored a late consolation through substitute Matt Wallace, beating the offside trap and sliding the ball past Lowe.
The Greens were always secure and took maximum points for the first time in three league games.
