ANGRY people in Kidderminster say a fast-food restaurant is treating them with contempt by making repeated applications for a new site.

Homeowners in Park Street, Wood Street and other nearby roads are appealing for continued support in their battle against McDonald's.

The fast-food chain is applying for planning permission to build a new restaurant on land at the junction of the two roads and Chapel Street.

But Residents Against McDonald's (RAM) say they will not give up.

"We see no reason for McDonald's pursuing this campaign for the sake of commercial gain," said Andy Wallace, chairman of the committee.

"The construction of a fast food drive-in restaurant in this residential area - with its added traffic, noise, litter, lack of access, restricted parking and inconvenience - is not in our interest and never will be, no matter how many applications McDonald's submit.

"We appeal to all residents and local businesses who showed their support in opposing the previous applications to do so again, as McDonald's has obviously not been listening."

McDonald's said it had altered its plans from the previous occasions.

"We have put in an application for a third restaurant in Kidderminster, but we have reduced the size of the building to 60 seats," said McDonald's spokeswoman Diane Howard.
