THE cold snap could be over after this week, according to Evening News weatherman Paul Damari, after the two counties faced a week of shivering, sub-zero temperatures.
The Faithful City has seen temperatures as low as minus 12C - the coldest January on record since 1982.
But although temperatures will still be below freezing for the rest of the week, Mr Damari is confident that a thaw is on its way.
"We should have more cloud cover for the rest of the week, so the temperatures should be around 0 to minus 4C at night," he said.
"The temperature in the day time will be significantly warmer, but there will still be a very bitter wind chill factor so everyone should still wrap up warm."
Temperatures plummeted again overnight, with minus 11C recorded in Worcester, and minus 9C in Hereford by 5am.
But they are expected to rise in the South West and the London area by the end of the week.
The roads remained treacherous today and motorists were warned to take care on the drive into work.
"People returning to work today after a break of more than a week should take extra care as we expect it to be icy again in the rush hour," an Automobile Association spokeswoman said.
