FIVE Ways Old Edwardians were bidding to halt a losing run of five matches at Midlands Four West North opponents Handsworth at the weekend.
The friendly fixture came on the heels of a 33-19 league defeat to Edwardians and a Boxing Day 26-7 loss to Midlands Four West South neighbours Kings Norton.
Jez Williams' side recorded their last competitive win back on November 24 when they beat a Bredon Star side who play two divisions beneath them in the North Midlands Junior Cup. And the skipper was hoping to boost morale in friendlies against Handsworth and at home to Midlands Four West South neighbours Droitwich on Saturday (ko 2.15pm) before his side return to North Midlands One fixtures.
Five Ways vice captain Ian Carter said there were encouraging signs in the league loss to Edwardians.
