EVESHAM'S Terry Pitcher headed a star-studded field to win the Warwickshire Avon Open at Manor Farm Leisure last Sunday.

Fished in wintry conditions, the winner used waggler and stick down the middle of the river to net seven chub on bronze maggot in a winning weight of 9.12.0.

A CLEAR head helped Phil Seedhouse to victory with roach on pole tactics in the Evesham Jubilee Society's Hangover Cup at Common Road.

There will be a Severn Shield match at Pitchcroft, WDAA Waters on Sunday when the Charles Thompson Cup will also be up for grabs.

The draw takes place at 8am at the pumphouse end of the venue. Members uncertain of directions are asked to meet at Merstow Green at 7.15am.

Evesham and District AA

STEVE Pallett and Tim Hunt (Evesham Jubilee) booked their places at the 2002 Wychavon Championships after coming out tops in a brace of Evesham Association qualifiers either side of Christmas.

Pallett, from Shimano Portway, bagged 6.10.0 of chub from peg 52 using waggler and maggot, while Hunt's winning weight of 6.4.0 from the same Town Waters peg was again made up of chub.
