A BALLOON race is being held to raise money for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and Worcester's Thornton House Special School.
The helium-filled balloons will be released in the centre of Worcester on Saturday, January 26, and the winner will be the sender of the one that is found and returned from furthest away.
The balloons will be on sale at Chicago Rock Caf, in New Street, on Friday, January 25.
On Sunday, January 27, Chicago Rock Caf will be following up the fund-raising by holding a children's party between 3-5pm. Tickets cost £3 and are available at the caf.
The proceeds from the two events will be split between the two organisations.
Hugh Thomas, headteacher at Thornton House, said they had not decided what the money would be spent on, but one of the projects being considered was revamping the play areas.
"There are lots of things we need support for. We can never get too much of it," he said.
