I HAVE just returned from a trip into Great Malvern and am becoming increasingly amazed by the illegal parking.
Of course, there are the now commonplace offenders with which we are all familiar - outside Lloyds Bank on Belle Vue Terrace (making it extremely difficult for motorists to turn out of the steep road opposite) and on the corner at the top of Church Street (four cars were there today outside Boots preventing drivers coming down the road to see what was coming up).
These dangerous and thoughtless practices seem fairly tame compared to what I have just witnessed: two cars wedged on the end of Abbey Road outside the Post Office (backing out into Church Street), cars at the top of Edith Walk (restricting access from the top and causing a queue out onto Worcester Road) and, the most unbelievable yet, TWO cars parked half on the pavement on Grange Road outside Nat West Bank right next to the traffic lights! All of these incidents are on double yellow lines.
As a reasonably conscientious motorist, I am getting more and more fed up with others who think they can park where they like but I can almost see why some are tempted to do this because there is no fear of being caught!
Incidentally only about one in three has a disabled badge.
