COLWALL sub-postmaster Ron Wills has welcomed moves by Hereford-shire Council to increase the number of traffic wardens patrolling the village.
Mr Wills said he hoped the extra coverage, which is part of a countywide initiative would deter motorists from inconsiderate parking.
He said the parking situation was a growing problem in the village.
"There's a certain disregard," he said. "Trade has risen significantly at Colwall Post Office and people just park where they like.
"If anything makes the area better then I'm all for it."
Andrew Lee-Jones, lead engineer of Herefordshire Council's integrated transport project, said Colwall was being targeted as part of the authority's 'decriminalised parking enforcement measures'.
He explained that wardens would be making regular visits to the area.
"We hope people will abide by the parking restrictions," he said.
"We won't just be pin-pointing one spot, we'll be looking at the county in general terms."
Colwall beat manager, PC Keith Eyles, has reminded motorists to park legally and consider other residents when parking outside their properties.
Offenders face a fine of £60, or £30 if paid within 14 days, which will be used to continue funding the warden service. Any remaining money will be fed back into transportation operations in the county.
