CELEBRATIONS were in the air for the owners of a Bromsgrove shop after it bagged one of the most sought after awards competed for by town traders - the Most Christmassy Window in Bromsgrove title.
The winner of the Christmas 2001 award was Serendipity in New Road, whose owners, Christine Vallbona and Eloisa Lockwood won with their imaginative scene of the inside of a house over the Christmas period.
The festive prize, organised by the Advertiser/Messenger, in conjunction with traders' group BroMark, brings together friendly rivalry with Yuletide spirit as traders dress their windows with decorations in an attempt to win the prestigious award.
Townspeople were frantically filling in the nomination forms where, by nominating their favourite window, they stood a chance of winning £100 to spend in one of the shops that entered the competition.
Elizabeth Stokes, from Charford Road, in Bromsgrove, was the lucky winner this time around and chose to spend her £100 in The Clothes Rail etc in Worcester Road.
BroMark chairman, Anita Mears, said the competition went really well.
She added: "The award became a talking point between traders and shoppers alike, and it promoted a lot of goodwill within the town.
"We are looking forward to 2002's competition already, when where we are hoping even more shops will join in."
