STAFF at the Alexandra Hospital say they have 'no confidence' in Worcestershire Health Authority.
The vote at the hospital in Redditch, which was lead by the Medical Staff Committee just before Christmas, called for a number of directors from Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust to resign - and a vote of no confidence was carried.
The committee, which consists of consultants from throughout the county, carried the vote with 112 of the consultants out of 130 that were given the opportunity to vote, voting for the motion.
Past trust chairman, Harold Musgrove, who has now retired, condemned the consultants' attacks and said they were most unreal in view of the major changes being introduced to give Worcestershire the finest health facilities in the country.
He added: "We are extremely disappointed that some members of the Medical Staff Committee, whose interests are very well represented on the Trust Board, chose to press ahead with this divisive and demoralising secret vote without making any attempt to speak to us about their concerns.
"Members of the Trust Board are striving to deliver to the people of Worcestershire the modern high-quality level of health care they need and deserve."
He also said he would always be happy to meet with the consultants to discuss any concerns they might have, as well as the development of their services.
