BROMSGROVE'S premier samba band is hoping to drum-up some new members by running a series of workshops.
Someone at the Door have joined forces with Bromsgrove District Council's leisure services to encourage townsfolk to get involved
Members of the band will run three of the four evening classes, with the fourth, a daylong workshop, run by Britain's leading samba musician Rav Jayasuriya.
District Council Arts Development Officer Huw Moseley said: "Someone at the Door played more than 20 public performances in 2001, and has become one of the areas most popular and colourful attractions at festivals and carnivals.
"It was set up by the district council in 1997 and is now self sufficient but retains a community base and wants to encourage people of all ages to take part and join in the UK's rapidly growing samba movement.
"The workshops will enable people to learn samba drumming skills so that they may join the band."
Places on the course, costing £15 for adults and £10 for youngsters, are limited and can be booked by calling Huw on (01527) 881381 or band member Ray Shakeshaft on 01562 752036.
