Westfields beat the weather and Wolverhampton Casuals to move up to fifth spot in the West Midlands League Premier Division with a fine 4-0 victory.
Westfields groundsman Rob Waring worked for five hours to get the pitch fit and in an action packed first-half Westfields' Jon Pugh made two great saves to deny Curtis Barnes, while at the other end Derek Craddock had a powerful header go just over the bar, then Robbie Weaver hit the woodwork with a powerful 20-yard free kick.
Westfields broke the deadlock in the 28th minute when from a Rob Weaver corner, Alex Winstone rose above the Wolves defence to head home from eight yards.
In the 38th minute a long ball upfield by Winstone put skipper Matt Phillips free on the left and his cross was met by top scorer Craddock who tucked the ball away from eight yards.
Just before half-time Pugh produced a full-length save from Carl Whitehouse, and the ball ran free to Barnes who smashed the ball against the post. Westfields cleared upfield and Paul Burton raced between 'keeper Steve Booth and defender Paul Tudor to score a fine opportunist goal.
On the hour Westfields went 4-0 ahead in a breakaway when Burton got free on the right and his cross found Craddock who raced in to smash home the fourth goal from eight yards.
After that Chris Jefferson had a shot cleared off the line, Weaver had a shot stick in the mud and Wayne Hoskins' fierce drive cleared the bar.
