I WAS saddened to hear of the death of Trid Sarkar last week. Trid and I were both employed by Redman Tools, later Redman Engineering, during the 1960s.
I well remember enjoying several good meals courtesy of Redman's suppliers, or potential suppliers, while in Trid's company.
Also, Trid often rang me up when he had a rep visiting - as he didn't aspire to two good meals per day (unlike me at that time) he would pass the rep on me. So I had many a free feed that way. Thank you, Trid!
From the above, it might be gathered that I spent many happy hours at Redmans. I certainly did, although there were also some of the other sort, which I won't enlarge upon.
I was very sorry to be kicked out (or as a polite term, made redundant) along with Trid and many others in 1971. It seemed to me like the end of an era, an era of good companionship.
To this end, I wonder if it would be possible to organise a reunion, perhaps a good meal and a few drinks, of the Redman lads of the 1960s.
