ITEMS as unusual as an old gramophone have been found dumped in a Worcester playing field during an environmental clear-up.
The Duckworth Worcestershire Trust, city council ranger service and West Mercia Probation Services have been removing litter from the King George V playing fields in Brickfields as part of a three-day venture.
The project started yesterday and the team has already managed to clear eight tons of rubbish from the area, including washing machines and old satellite dishes. Crisp packets and other litter had also blown into the fields and nearby woodland, which the team was working to clear.
James Cooper, head environmental warden for the Duckworth Worcestershire Trust, said the clear-up was organised when a trust member noticed the playing fields had become a fly-tipping blackspot.
"We go around and do litter picks as and when we come across areas which need it," he said.
