THE players are on the brink of being rewarded for their efforts with a place in the Nationwide League Division Three play-offs and that's terrific news for everybody connected with Kidderminster Harriers.
Not many people would have thou-ght we'd be in that position after making a slow start to the season.
But we are and we've got to keep it going with Luton Town providing the next test of our play-off credentials at Aggborough tonight.
I have to say I'm delighted with the way everything is turning out for us at the moment. But, on the other hand, we have to remember that we're still only a couple of bad results away from being mid-table again, so there's certainly no room for complacency.
With the last three or four wins we haven't quite got our rewards in terms of getting into the play-off positions yet, but hopefully that will change after tonight's match with Luton!
We said after last season that we felt we had learned a lot and the idea was to improve on our 16th place and the squad as a whole.
I think it's fair to say we will improve on 16th spot and I believe that the squad has already improved because it's younger and better.
Now we've got to the point where you have to say that the play-offs are a realistic target for us. People talk about teams like Scunthorpe, Shrewsbury and Cheltenham getting into the play-offs and if they are realistic contenders then so are we.
I think it would have been impossible for anyone to predict that we were going to go from our performance at Carlisle on October 20, which was diabolical, and then play at Aggborough the following Tuesday and beat York 4-1.
Since then we've never really looked back. We did have one average performance down at Southend when we lost 1-0, but that was nowhere near as bad as our displays earlier in the season at Shrewsbury and Carlisle.
Even the one we lost at Exeter we played well, so the consistency has been excellent.
Abdou Sall played his first game in the match against York so you can't rule out the impact he has made, but I also think people like Dean Bennett and Colin Larkin have improved because they have got better players to feed them like Richie Appleby and Bo Henriksen.
Danny Williams has also been showing the form that made us bring him here, but it's difficult to say that one player in particular has made the difference. I think there are a number of reasons why we are doing so well.
There's no doubt that all the players are enjoying the current run but, as I say, there's still a long way to go.
There's another 22 games left and we are starting to pick up a few injuries. I'm convinced, though, that we've got enough options up front and defensively to see us through.
But at the moment we have got our sights firmly set on adding another winning scalp to our collection by beating Joe Kinnear's Luton tonight.
