BASEMENT boys Swindon Supermarine dealt a blow to Nicky Cross' managerial hopes with two crushing goals in the last ten minutes.
United threw off their sluggish form of recent weeks, rolled up their sleeves and created chances.
But once again they could not finish off poor opponents and, although unlucky, paid the ultimate price.
As ever Paul Danks looked the likely saviour but for once his goal-den touch deserted him at the close of the first half.
The free-scoring forward won a penalty when he was pulled back in the area by Steve Bennett but blazed his spot kick wildly over the bar.
The fans' favourite made amends 13 minutes after the restart, firing across Paul Haines into the corner after a perfect cushioned header from his player manager.
But with a precious three points in sight an uncharacteristic error from captain Nigel Niblett gifted the visitors an equaliser.
Bennett forced a good block from Reds keeper Mat Jones after Niblett's suicidal back pass but Tate Hulbert was on hand to profit in the 80th minute.
And seconds after Haines denied Danks with a breathtaking point blank save five minutes from time Bennett steered home a left-footed winner from 20 yards after a measured ball from Adrian Roper to deal Redditch a cruel blow.
