AN action group looks set to be formed by Spa dignitaries to tackle the growing problem of graffiti and anti-social behaviour which has plagued the town in recent months.

The group will include police and town councillors.

It was decided to set up the group, which will put forward ideas and solutions to problems such as graffiti and egg throwing, at a meeting last Thursday which was chaired by Droitwich MP Peter Luff.

More than 30 people from various organisations went along to the Community Hall, in Heritage Way, to put forward their views on how to tackle the town's crime problems.

Speaking after the meeting, Mr Luff said: "Everyone agreed the problems were serious and needed to be addressed more effectively.

"The real lesson of last week's meeting was that we are all in this together and we can solve the problems together too."

During the meeting it was announced an extra police officer will be dedicated to foot patrols in the town with the hope of easing the problems.

Droitwich Spa beat manager PC Alun Jones, who looks set to be part of the action group, said: "From concerns raised at last week's meeting and from our own information, there is clearly a need for these problems to be addressed.

"I stress that it's a community problem which affects us all and to this end, I look forward to working with the new group to tackle these problems."
