KIND-HEARTED townspeople are being urged to give just a few hours a week to help support the elderly and continue a much-needed service in the county that urgently requires moe volunteers.
Age Concern Hereford and Worcester Sitter Service, which provides a priceless service for carers and the elderly in the area, is currently looking for volunteers to join the group.
The service sends out volunteers for just a few hours a week to sit with an elderly person so that their carer can have time to themselves, with the reassurance that someone is looking after their dependant while they are away.
Volunteers, who do not need any medical training, can be male or female, but must be over 18, with three or more hours a week to spare.
Sitters receive all of the necessary training to enable them to sit with an older person who is needing care and friendship.
A spokeswoman for the service said: "We are desperate for people to come forward and help us.
"We rely heavily on members of the public to keep the service going in the county."
If you would like to volunteer for this service you can contact Lin Hunt or Liz Greatwich on (01905) 726652.
