FOOT and mouth disease is still being felt by a Redditch bike shop almost a year after it swept the country, writes Julian Seva.
Michael Davis, of Michael's Cycles in Evesham Road, Headless Cross, applied for financial aid after he saw turnover drop 17 per cent.
Repairs and sales plummeted when the epidemic started in February.
Footpaths were closed to stop the public spreading the virus, and a case was discovered near Astwood Bank.
Mr Davis says he was told early on he would not be able to apply for financial help from the Government because the Redditch district was not deemed rural enough.
But that later changed and on Monday, the council's corporate services committee backed Mr Davis' claim for financial help.
