Drakes Broughton Rgrs U-11 4,
Peopleton Tigers 1
DRAKES started the cup tie with some great passing that allowed Dan Lloyd to score after five minutes.
The scorer added a second 15 minutes later but pressure from Peopleton in the last ten minutes of the half needed extra effort from James Cotton, Stuart Perks and Philip Heritage in defence to prevent the visitors from pulling a goal back.
After the interval the Drakes defence continued to work hard, with good tackling from Lawrence Mann, before Bridges scored for Peopleton.
With ten minutes left Philip Marsh made it 3-1 and then sealed the match five minutes later to book a place in the semi-finals on March 9.
Peopleton U-14 0, Norton Rgrs 1
DEPUTY goalkeeper Shane Turley was Norton's saviour in the fog at Peopleton last Sunday.
Turley made a string of fine saves in the closing stages to repel the home side's late charge for an equaliser and his efforts ensured the winners stay top of the Mercian Elgar League.
Both sides produced some neat attacking play but defences were on top with Rangers having the most of the first half play but they were unable to convert their chances into goals with Matt Clement in good form.
It remained tight after the restart until a Dale Attwood free-kick was allowed to travel across the penalty area for Ashley Knight to head into the top corner.
Peopleton pushed forward in the final 15 minutes and created several chances but fund Turley a defiant last line of defence.
Salford Rvrs U-13 13,
Bredon Colts 0
THIRTEEN was definitely not an unlucky number for Salford Rovers as they played their best game of the season so far.
Player of the match, Ashley Wilkes, completed his first hat-trick of the game with only ten minutes on the watch.
Matt Layton headed home a fourth from a pinpoint cross from Wilkes. Goal five soon followed, after a Josh Cocker solo run from the halfway line. Wilkes then slotted home two more goals before half-time to give Rovers a seven-goal cushion.
Eight minutes into the second half Layton netted his side's eighth goal and then completed his hat-trick from a Sean Read free-kick.
Ryan Ellis took Rovers into double figures after a poor clearance before three more goals from Wilkes completed a fabulous eight-goal haul and Salford to a 13-0 victory.
Solid defending and good goalkeeping saw Richard Print keep a clean sheet and deny Bredon even a consolation.
Carterton Rgrs 0,
Moreton Rgrs U-12 5
IN their first league match of the new year unbeaten Rangers claimed three points against old rivals Carterton Rangers.
It was Tom Corby who soon opened the scoring for the visitors firing in after a through ball from striker Jamie Wyatt.
Roy Hissey claimed his first of three on 20 minutes, cleverly dribbling through two defenders before giving the Carterton goalkeeper no chance.
Though the home side played some good football, it was stamina that counted and the visitors nearly made it three when Mark Magee struck the bar with a shot from outside the box.
Hissey claimed his second just before the break, again with some clever footwork inside the box.
The second half saw Wyatt strike a brilliant goal, beating the keeper following a clever move involving Corby and Jon Geekie and, when Hissey bagged his hat-trick just before the conclusion with a drive from outside the box, it was all but over.
Credit must go to midfielder Sam Tyack whose tireless play throughout the 60 minutes earned him joint player of the match vote along with striker Magee.
Moreton Rvrs U-12 2, Garden City 2
A MAKESHIFT Rovers side did themselves proud as they earned a point from a good battling performance.
Moreton rode their luck early on and then took the lead courtesy of a Joe Jarvis thunderbolt from 20 yards.
Ollie Thompson then doubled the home side's lead, reacting quickest after Adam Dalleywater's shot had hit a post.
City hit back with a fine strike following a corner just before the break and then they made it 2-2 midway through the second period.
Credit must go to Rovers who forced three late corners and the astute kicks from Graham Jones produced frantic scrambles in the Garden goalmouth.
Moreton's player of the match was Dan Hiskett who, despite being the smallest player on the pitch, tackled and fought hard for every ball.
