A campaign to close a road across Malvern Link Common has been re-launched by district councillor and Conservator Pat Raven.
Coun Raven says the section of Cockshot Road, between Moorlands Road and Worcester Road, should be closed to through traffic to make it safer for pedestrians.
Coun Raven attempted to have the road closed or speed-limited about 15 years ago, following approaches by residents of the Tennyson Drive estate, but it came to nothing.
She has been prompted to renew her campaign by news that the Malvern Hills Conservators, in association with Worcestershire County Council, are looking at providing a track next to Cockshot Road for walkers and cyclists.
"It seems to me that this would be a great waste of public money when it would be quite suitable simply to close the road to traffic by placing a couple of bollards at a suitable point and a notice each end," she said.
