Four star
WHO needs to queue up for Bored of the Rings or Harry Nutter and his magician's rock when you can see Mean Machine.
The time you waste in line for them you could be laughing up your spleen watching Vinnie Jones and crew in this hilarious movie.
And any doubts about watching the ex-Wimbledon and Wales hard man in the lead role will soon be forgotten.
Jones plays Danny Meehan, ex-England football captain whose best playing days are well behind him.
Meehan is well known for a drink but his latest outburst lands him behind bars.
Fortunately for Danny, the prison governor is partial to the beautiful game and asks Meehan to coach his floundering guard team.
Meehan refuses but comes up with the magical idea of having a pre-season game for the guards against a cons XI.
If the plot sounds familiar, that's because it is. It's based on Robert Aldrich's 1974 classic The Mean Machine aka The Longest Yard.
If you like football you'll like this.
