RESIDENTS in and around Bromsgrove were reminded this week that there is still time for them to do their bit to help the environment and re-cycle their Christmas trees at one of the many centres in the district.
They will be shredded to make mulch for spreading on flowerbeds throughout the area.
Urging people to spare a thought for the world's natural resources and not just put their old tree out for the binmen to collect, district councillor Cllr John Tidmarsh (Con, Stoke Prior) said: "Last year we had a tremendous response from people and collected 6,290 trees which produced more than 11 tonnes of mulch, a 50 per cent increase on the previous year.
"I hope our 2002 campaign will produce even better results."
Recycling centres are open until January 12 at Beckett's Farm, Wythall, Recreation Road south car park, Bromsgrove, Beechcroft Nurseries, Belbroughton, Kingfisher Nurseries, Catshill, Littleheath Aquatic and Garden Centre, Lickey End and New Road car park, Rubery.
Also at Safeway Aston Fields, Webbs of Wychbold, Wyevale Country Gardens, Burcot, and at Lickey Hills Visitor Centre, Cofton Hackett which is open throughout the whole of January.
