A FORMER South Bromsgrove High School student is Big in Japan after winning a competition which took him to Tokyo to collect his prize.
Andrew Wilkes, who lived in Harwood Park, won a contest to create a new global slogan for his employers, the NEC Corporation.
The 38-year-old, who beat off 5,000 entrants, now lives in Wokingham, Berkshire. His family still live in the town.
He decided to enter the contest because he thought he had a good chance of winning.
His entry, called Empowered by Innovation, was chosen because the three words encapsulated the notion of NEC "providing a continuing contribution to the realisation of society's potential through technical innovation."
Andrew's slogan was launched worldwide at the end of last year.
