MAY I apologise to Mr John Norwood for the letter that appeared in You Say on January 2. Unfortunately, an error occurred in the translation of my letter, where Mr Norwood's name was printed erroneously. It should have read the Rev D G Griffin. The following should correct matters.

I refer to D G Griffin's letter of December 14 and his criticism of John Norwood's letter. Mr Griffin suggests that Mr Norwood should read more - I would be of the opinion that Mr Norwood has read a wider version than the Reverend.

I wonder how many readers will agree with Mr Griffin that marriage is permanent and exclusive. Does he honestly believe that if there is brutality on either side or one partner is a drug addict, dipsomaniac, rapist or paedophile, that they should stay together due to some out-of-date religious law?

If he does, I'm afraid he doesn't live in the real world.

F THOMAS, Malvern.
