THE prize giving at Barnt Green Sailing Club's annual meeting topped off an exciting year for Kelsey Suggitt.
In her Optimist class dinghy, she won all three of the race series at her home club.
She also travelled to events as far afield as Poole Harbour for the end of season regatta and Largs, in Scotland, where the National Championship was held.
In this major event Kelsey competed in the Junior Fleet (12 and under) and was tenth out of 96.
This meant she was 20th on the ranking list and achieved her goal of a place in the national squad.
This group of 32 elite sailors will train together during the winter.
Kelsey, a pupil at St John's Middle School, in Bromsgrove, said: "My aim for 2002 is to be in the top eight at the selection event for the World and European teams and then top five at the Nationals."
