DEAR EDITOR - I am not a member of any poliical party, nor do I belong to Action for Droitwich or any other lobby group - simply a local voter sick of arrogance, ignorance and incompetence by Wychavon District Council.

Recent stories on supermarkets, the lido and parish poll amaze me, and Cllr Meikle's recent tirade confirmed how out of touch our elected representatives and their advisors are. He has been duped into thinking all is well.

Supermarkets aside, Wychavon has often angered Droiwich voters with hare-brained schemes - sprawling parish hall complexes, unwanted industrial estates, jerry-built skate parks and others, as well as destroying some of our heritage and green belt.

Does Cllr Meikle really believe all these outcries were secretly funded and manipulated by Tesco just to build a store?

A parish poll is needed in the town - not to oppose or build supermarkets, but to make politicians of all parties aware of how disgusted voters are locally.

Action for Droitwich want a vote of 'no confidence' in the town council but this should be in Wychavon District Council, who have the power, abuse it and are to blame for our problems.

Cllr Meikle's insults to Droitwich as a 'has been' town and its people as puppets of big business are crass stupidity. His remarks prove a lack of communication between the district council, its officers, town councillors and the local electorate.

Next time he parades his power, pomposity and patronising attitude .... listen out. You may hear a little voice singing 'The King is in the altogether, as naked as the day as he was born.'

Cllr Meikle has bared himself and his council to Droitwich voters for what they are - naked fools!

Mark R Heel,

Burrish Street,

Droitwich.
