DEAR EDITOR - During my early morning journeys from Blackwell to the Alexandra Hospital, I travel via country roads and dual carriageways.

I am frequently frightened to death by coming suddenly upon cyclists who do not wear any reflective clothing and whose bikes are totally inadequately lit.

These riders are putting themselves at serious risk as well as increasing the potential for car accidents.

On the odd occasion I have also come across pedestrians equally ill lit.

Can I appeal to all such road users to put safety first, invest in some reflective clothing and have better lights on their bikes.
