A PAY dispute at a Redditch engineering firm has sparked a one-day-a-week strike by workers, writes Julian Seva.
On Thursday, about 140 shopfloor staff formed a picket line outside aerospace company Hymatic Engineering Ltd, based in Burnt Meadow Road, North Moons Moat.
The action follows a rejection of a 2.6 per cent pay rise and the ending of the option to take a week's unpaid leave every year. Workers had initially been offered a two per cent rise.
Strike action was called after a ballot of AEEU and MSF union members, who are calling for a five per cent pay rise. Staff are also refusing overtime.
A company spokesman would not comment on the strike.
