A GLOBE-trotting dad is giving a talk about his trip to Annapurna, in the Himalayas, in aid of Leukaemia Research.

Tony Caldwell from Evesham will be giving an illustrated commentary about his trip at Worcestershire Camera Club.

The adventurer, who has two daughters, has been raising money for the charity for 20 years.

He decided to drum up cash for the cause when his only son Simon was diagnosed with leukaemia at the age of three. The toddler died two years later in 1979.

"I travelled to Annapurna in 1996 and stayed there for a month," said the 63-year-old.

"Visitors to the Worcestershire Camera Club will have an illustrated slide talk about my trip.

"Non-members of the club are welcome and will hopefully give a donation for the talk."

The talk and slide show at Bishop Allenby Hall, off Ombersley Road, Worcester, will last for 45 minutes.

After an interval, the audience will be invited to ask questions.

Mr Caldwell, from St Patrick's Close, has raised more than £500,000 for Leukaemia Research through his talks, coffee mornings and sponsored walks.

His talk is due to take place on Tuesday, January 22 at 7.45pm.
