PENSIONERS had plenty to smile about when the Mayor of Worcester officially opened an Age Concern Exercise and Luncheon Club.
The Mayor, Councillor David Clark, attended the ceremony yesterday along with other guests including Phil Lawson, council special needs officer, and Dr Graham Watts, headmaster of Elgar Technical School.
Coun Clark officially opened the club, in Bilford Court, Southdown Road, Perdiswell, which began in November.
Guests enjoyed a meal of gammon, potatoes and peas.
Two students from Elgar Technical School, Sammy-Jo Kendal-Smith and Munpreet Hundle, who have helped out at the club each week in their lunch break, were presented with certificates by Coun Clark on behalf of Age Concern.
The girls were also presented with chocolates by club members.
"It went very well," said Doreen Jeeves, Worcester and District Age Concern clubs co-ordinator.
