TABLE TENNIS: The first round of Kidderminster Table Tennis League's Handicap Cup produced close matches but none more so than Third Division Sea Scouts B's clash with First Division Bewdley CC A.
The Scouts team - Rob Hatherley, Andrei Gelman and Tom Philips - received a 225.5-point start but Dave and Mark Bennett and Steve Scott were undeterred.
They steadily pulled back the points throughout until Hatherley needed to score 14 points against M Bennett in the final game over two sets to gain victory for the Scouts.
Hatherley fought hard and scored nine points in the first set but M Bennett was able to keep him down to four in the second, giving Bewdley victory by just half-a-point.
