THE latest arrival at West Midland Safari Park is the talk of the attraction - a yak.
The female calf, which was born shortly before Christmas, is doing well and joins a herd now 20 strong.
There are only about 500 yaks, which originate from Tibet, still living in the wild. Their future is threatened by cross-breeding with cattle.
But they have been successfully bred at the safari park in Bewdley for the past 12 years.
Head warden Bob Lawrence said: "Not many zoos have them, but we have no trouble at all with them.
"They are hardy and adaptable and don't need much looking after."
The attraction is due to re-open in March.
