GREAT Alne CC have appointed their first over-seas player after signing Aussie teenager Daniel Craig.
The 19-year-old has been recruited from District side Essendon's seconds, the equivalent of County Cricket second teams.
The opening bat and wicketkeeper has been in-troduced to bring on the club's younger players and will be offered to local schools to pass on his expertise to pupils.
The Henley Road club is putting the accent on bringing on younger players next season and the committee have taken the decision to drop from Divi-sion Two to Division Five of the Cotswold Hills League despite last season's successful battle to beat the drop.
"We want the younger players in the team to be able to enjoy competitive cricket and felt we needed to drop down a few pegs to do so," said Great Alne skipper Craig Millard.
