"ESSENTIAL" repairs need to be carried out at Bewdley Museum within the next two to three years, members of the district council have been told.
But proposals to refurbish the listed building will be put on ice until February when Wyre Forest District Council's financial situation will be reviewed.
In a report to the executive committee, Andrew Dickens, head of culture, leisure and commercial services, said an application for Lottery funding was being prepared.
The capital cost of the scheme would be £82,500 which would attract funding from Opportunity Bewdley if work included improving toilets, the cafeteria, disabled access and information.
The total cost of the scheme is estimated at £490,000.
