"POLITICIANS, royals and celebrities usually issue Christmas cards depicting themselves", says Ken J Ratcliffe in his letter (You Say, December 31), who goes on to say that a local schoolboy had won a competition for designing a Christmas card sent to him by MP Mike Foster.
Not a month went by last year when the MP wasn't seen having his photograph taken with local schoolchildren. As a parent, I would be disgusted if I thought that any politician would set out to use my child for cheap electoral publicity.
The people of Worcester want an MP who can be a popular all-rounder, who works hard for his constituents on the issues that matter to them, rather than wasting time on class-based, minority issues.
An MP who takes a vocal frontline role, campaigning and fighting for improvements in not just education, but also health, jobs, local housing, transport and social welfare.
The people of Worcester want an MP who plans how he is going to achieve results, rather than bumping into Government Ministers in corridors on the off-chance of a decision.
Mr Foster, the next General Election may be less than three-and-a-half years away. At what point are you going to stop exploiting schoolchildren and start campaigning on the issues that matter to the people of Worcester?
A J CHRISTIAN-BROOKES,
Droitwich.
