A DROITWICH woman found dead at her home on Wednesday had suffered a serious head injury, it has emerged.

Rita Lee died from a combination of shock and haemorrhage, according to pathologist Dr Eddie Tapp.

The post mortem also revealed that the 58-year-old had suffered gastric bleeding and a broken arm. The cause of the injuries is not yet known.

Blood was found in every ground floor room in the Florence Avenue house, an inquest yesterday was told.

She was discovered on Wednesday by her cleaner, Eileen Brookes, who was the last person to see her alive two days earlier.

Worcester coroner Victor Round, opening the inquest at County Hall, in Worcester, said Mrs Lee had lived alone since her husband committed suicide several years ago.

He said she had a history of depression and had difficulties with alcohol.

She often turned up at neighbours' houses with bruises apparently sustained in falls, he said.

The inquest was adjourned.
