THE bells of St Peter's Church rang out to welcome worshippers to the lovely candlelit carol service on Tuesday, December 18, a service of nine carols and readings. The atmosphere at this service is truly Christmas as we remember the events of 2,000 years ago. Also this year a Midnight Holy Communion was held on Christmas Eve, the church was full and the singing was outstanding. And on New Years Day, again the bells were rung before a short service to welcome the New Year when we pray for peace and the future. Rev Chris Moss officiated at all these services and the organist was Edward lane.
The new year's dance was held in the Village Hall again this year. Karisma supplied the music, which was varied and at the right noise level!
A supper was served by members of the Village Hall committee before dancing recommenced at about 11pm and all the usual revelries took place at midnight to herald the start of 2002.
John Wilkes, as chairman, thanked everyone for their support at these dances which are held four times a year in aid of hall funds, and are a very successful part of raising revenue for the hall.
