A YOUNG singer has released a CD in memory of her former boyfriend to raise funds for charity.

Tom Ronchard, of Willersey, died of a suspected heroin overdose in October, and now the 24-year-old's former girlfriend is trying to raise money for a centre in Chipping Campden that helps drug and alcohol addicts.

Marianne Taylor, from Broadway, has released the CD, Thank You, under her stage name, Faith. The dedication inside reads: "My debut album has been dedicated to a very special, talented young man, who will always stay close to my heart."

Marianne, aged 21, told the Journal: "When everything happened with Tom I decided to do an album to raise money. It came about very quickly.

"If you listen to the songs, it actually tells the story of my relationship with Tom. He was always very supportive of my singing.

"The title track is Thank You, which was mine and Tom's song. His favourite song, Forever Autumn, is on the end of it."

Proceeds will go to St Saviour's Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre in Campden, which counsels and supports addicts trying to come clean.

The centre's project director, Con Twomey, said: "We are extremely grateful to Marianne. When she made contact with us she did so because of her own personal pain and loss."

Copies of the CD cost £8 and are available from Jelf's newsagents, Broadway, from Marianne on 07779 995802 or from St Saviour's on 01386 841029 or PO Box 27, Chipping Campden, Glos GL55 6YD.

Marianne is also staging a concert at Chipping Campden School, on Friday, March 8, to raise funds for St Saviour's when she will be performing alongside other acts.
