Drink-driving offences in the West Mercia region over the festive season are down by 50 per cent on the previous year.
Just eight per cent of those tested gave positive sample, compared to a national figure of 15 per cent.
Sgt John Roberts said: "It's encouraging that the percentage of positive tests was down by almost 50 per cent over the same period last year."
Six people were killed on the roads in the West Mercia region over the Christmas period, an increase of two from the same period the previous year.
