ON November 7 last I slipped and fell into the road opposite to the library entrance in Ledbury.

To the lady who immediately came to my help and stayed with me until the ambulance took me to hospital, the assistance in supporting me by a man from the furniture rooms next to the library and to the offers of help from the emergency doctor passing by and the assistance of the police and to the many passers by who offered comfort - I offer my grateful thanks.

But especially, I have to thank the paramedics who gave such unstinting and cheerful help. I cannot remember all their names but to Bo, Andy and Mike and the controller, you will always be thought of with affection.

As it turned out, I had broken my left femur and had it 'repaired' in Cheltenham General Hospital. I am now walking around with the help of sticks and making a good recovery.

Thank you all again and my wishes to you all for a happy New Year.
