BACK in 1952, Worcester City Council was considering plans for the redevelopment of The Butts.
The Journal explained: "The area around the Cattle Market is considered very suitable for the development of an agricultural centre.
Councillor John Weaver, a farmer, told colleagues it was vital to make the Cattle Market worthy of the city, otherwise nearby towns would take the existing trade from Worcester.
"We have already received numerous enquiries from firms allied to the agriculture industry, requesting sites for the purpose of erecting new business premises in the vicinity of the Cattle Market," he stressed.
