REDDITCH United have released a joint statement about the resignation of chairman Rod Laight.
A statement signed by the board and released today said: "The Board of Redditch United Football Club Ltd regret to announce the resignation of Rod Laight as Chairman and as a Director of the Club.
"Rod Laight has served the club, its Board, management team, supporters, sponsors and players with distinction over the last ten years, notably as Chairman since 1997.
"Increasingly over the last 12 months, business and family commitments have meant that Rod has been unable to give the vast amount of time he would normally give to the club, and which he feels is necessary to the running of a successful Club.
"The burden of running the Club on a day-to-day basis has increasingly fallen on fellow Board members, and Rod is very grateful to them for taking the reins over this period; in particular to fellow director, Pat Cremin, on whom most of this work has fallen.
"The Club accepts Rod's resignation with great regret and would like to record its thanks to Rod and his family for all the work and effort they have put in to the Club over many years.
"Likewise, Rod and his family would like to thank all those associated with the Club for their support during his term as Chairman, and they have assured the Club and their supporters that they will continue to give the Club whatever support they can, in what they see will be a bright future."
