Warwickshire's recreation team has been awarded the government's Charter Mark for excellence in the delivery of public services.

The team, which employs 35 staff, works to promote, encourage and make it possible for residents and visitors to enjoy the countryside. It manages eight county-wide country parks and picnic sites, including the Stratford to Long Marston Greenway.

Director of planning, transport and economic strategy, John Deegan said: "The team had to demonstrate to an independent body that they were highly committed to customers.

"More than half a million people visit our country parks and picnic sites each year and many more regularly use the county's extensive network of footpaths and bridleways.

"Getting this award is a strong indicator that we are delivering what our customers want," Mr Deegan added.
