A NEW play to take the chill out of the winter is being promised by a popular amateur theatre group.
The Nonentities will perform Mr Wonderful, a comedy about love, dating agencies and over dominant mothers, at the Rose Theatre, Kidderminster, later this month.
Liz Cole, artistic director for the group, said the show continued her aims to start the new year with an up-to-date comedy.
She added James Robson, who wrote the play, was a "real talent" and had been keen to produce the comedy from the moment she read it.
"I knew we had to do it," she said.
"Some plays, all very worthy and entertaining in their own way, just don't make it through to the final selection of plays. This was always top of my list though. It's so well written.
"Audiences will love the characters, the humour, the surprise in the plot and the music. The weather might be cold but this will bring New Year cheer, but not before developing a tear."
The play follows a woman trying to find love through a dating agency before it's too late and her gossipy, over-demanding mother takes up her whole life. But will she find love before being condemned to the companionship of her mother?
For more information on the play, which runs between Monday, January 21, and Saturday, January 26, or any of the theatre's other productions contact its box office on 01562 743745.
