Congratulations to Mr W F Romney on his election as secretary and registration agent of the South Worcestershire Conservative Assoc-iation, in succession to the late Mr W H Moore, who occupied the dual position for a number of years. Mr Romney, who is an Old Malvernian, has been in practice as a solicitor for a short while. He was first engaged with Mr H L Whatley and afterward became a member of the firm of Messrs Moore, Price and Romney.

For the last three or four years, Lady Henry Somerset has organised really charming entertainment at Eastnor Castle each Christmas. These have taken the forms of tableaux, performed by the children of the Eastnor Loyal Temperance Legion, under the able tuition of her ladyship. The display on Thursday and Friday last comprised of scenes from the life of Joan of Arc. Ledbury Free Press, January 14, 1902.

Joey, one of the two drakes popular with visitors to Swan Pool in the Priory Park, was found dead on Wednesday morning by Mr F D Hooper, the Park Superintendent to Malvern Council. Hatched out in 1939, Joey was the father of Archie, who arrived a year later. Malvern Gazette, January 11, 1952.
The possibility that Mabel's Furlong may in due course be taken over by Ledbury Urban Council as a housing site was foreshadowed at Monday's meeting of the council, when the Chairman, Mr W.J. Bray, intimated that the County Council had already been authorised to arrange for a meeting with the architect to prepare a scheme to determine the future of the site, a portion of which is to be retained for school purposes. Parents taking children to Hillside School by car are causing traffic hazards by parking too near to the junction of Albert Park Road and Worcester Road, say Malvern Road Safety Committee members. Buses are having great difficulty in turning out of the junction because of the build-up of cars up to the junction.

A 31-ton tanker was stuck in Bank Crescent, Ledbury, for an hour on Friday, when it was diverted off the main road by a house! The house, a mobile bungalow, was travelling on a wide load through the town, when the tanker turned up Bank Crescent to let it pass. Ledbury Reporter, January 13, 1977.
