A PENSIONER died an hour having her handbag stolen from a Worcester supermarket.

The woman was taken ill in Tesco at St Peter's where she had gone with her husband for coffee.

She was taken to Worcester Royal Infirmary and pronounced dead an hour after the theft.

Police said a Home Office pathologist had been contacted and a post mortem examination was due to take place later today. The dead woman has not been named.

Police are now appealing for help in tracing a man seen in the supermarket at the time of the theft.

He is described as white, with short-cropped blond hair with a flick at the front. He was wearing a black puffa-style jacket with a red stripe on the shoulder.

Police want to hear from anyone in the St Peter's area who may find discarded items from a woman's handbag.

Anyone with information, or who witnessed the crime, should contact DS Jon Wallis or DC Steve Jenkins on 01905 723888.
