DVDs along with VHS videos and CDs are all now available alongside the more traditional books.

With an ordinary library ticket its possible to borrow up to six DVDs and/or videos each week, with a DVD costing £2.50 for seven days' rental.

"Libraries are now offering a greater number of facilities to the public than ever before, and the DVD scheme is just one of many new outlets," said a library spokeswoman.
